value through lack, all i’ve ever dreamt of as a kid, was freedom. the freedom to be, the freedom to dream, the freedom to soar. my neck would hurt looking up at the clouds, conjuring unicorns flying out of them; oh the imagination of an innocent child. i’d sit for hours on the roof looking at the birds; envied the way they flew away at the first sign of a threat; they’d escape every single time. i’d wonder what it’d be like to have the wind beneath my wings, carrying me as my faithful ally. i’d watch them until they disappeared into the horizon. as i wondered what lied beyond, i’d envy these birds for knowing the answers.

"and now that i’m on the other side with them, looking at them reminds me of the value this freedom has but also, of the power and inevitable perils that accompany. this is “untethered” - a series shot at a crowded brighton beach on the summer of 2022.
